appeal for greater participation in ARES training exercises.
It was noted that Ed Wood

There was some discussion
regarding incorporating training as part of the regular monthly SARA
The SARA meeting room scheduling
problems experienced at the time of the November 2008 meeting are resolved
with room scheduling returned to the EOC facility.

chair of the Socorro LEPC.
Brundage provided an updated report on proceeds from
the hamfest. The city has not yet reimbursed SARA for mailing costs,

Riverine Parks - Grey asked Mauger about Doug
Boykin's request of the association that we adopt one of the riverine
parks. Mauger reported that he had not receive information from Boykin
yet, but would follow up with an inquiry.
Brundage asked if there would be interest among
member for assembling at the EOC to operate the club station from the
trailer for the North American and New Mexico QSO parties. This
expanded into a discussion about attracting non-SARA amateur radio operators
to the events as a potential way to involve them in association
activities. Johnson (KB5YIW) volunteered to email an announcement to
these hams. Finley (N1IRZ) and Brundage will try to put something
together for distribution.
Price (N3MRA) was asked about the enrollment in the
NMT Community College Amateur Radio Licensure class he plans to teach.
Price indicated that about 8 students were going to take the course.
Discussion followed about way that SARA might involve these students in ham
radio and attract them to membership in SARA. A motion was made and
passed to extend one year of SARA membership to each of the students passing
their exams. Other SARA activities will be planned to involve these
students as well.
