Minutes of the SARA Meeting

SARA MEETING MINUTES - October 12, 2005

Call to Order:  Meeting was held in the clubhouse and was called to order at 7:33 PM by Vice President Glenn Mauger.

Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as posted.

Treasurerís report: the bank account has $3849.25.  501 c 3 status - still in motion.

Old Business:

Solar panels for repeater: Dave Johnson needs frame to fit for installation when he puts up the Echolink crossband repeater.

Chile Harvest Triathlon - A letter of appreciation was received from Fred Yarger, race director, for Striders and Riders.

ARES Trailer: we have two Power Pole distribution panels on the way; we will install three batteries in a rear compartment and need at least two solar panels (we have three, minus the one going up on the mountain).  Bill Brundage presented a diagram for the power distribution system.  Radio Shack has a third panel to donate.  Paul Rhodes will help mount a tower that we have.

Hamfest - Prize expenditures are well within the budget approved last month.

Publicity: flyers were being tape sealed at the meeting; this had been going on all day, so that mailing could ensue immediately. 

Dave Finley: somebody is needed to attend the City Council meeting on Monday to receive a proclamation for Amateur Radio Appreciation Day, which is October 29, the day of the hamfest. (Dave will be out of town). Jon Spargo agreed to be the standby representative if President Ed Wood canít be there.

Hamfest: Coffee and donuts are arranges; tables are arranged; the VE session is set up. We will take the trailer up. And we will have a silent auction.

New Business:

Jon Spargo: We have arranged for a tour of the Emergency Operations Center at Los Alamos on Tuesday the 18th, leaving the County Managerís office at 7 AM. We will arrive at Los Alamos at 10:00 AM, and also go to the Department of Public Safetyís EOC south of Santa Fe at 2 PM.

The LEPC has submitted items for the Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan process, for state funding, and an EOC for Socorro County is on the list.

Glenn Mauger is updating the ARES callout list, which will also be part of the LEPC database.
