Minutes of the SARA Meeting

SARA Meeting Minutes , October 13, 2004

Call to Order: at 1933 hours by Ed Wood KD5MFS.

Introduction of Guests: Wada Altailji AE6QG, a VE examiner

Report of the Secretary:  Minutes will be kept on the web.

Report of the Treasurer:  approved.  Income = 1 book sold.  Expenses - printer.

Reports of Committees:

Getting the Club Legal - Ryan Snyder KC5WDT said Rick has not accomplished this yet, determined that we should get it back and get it done.

ARES & Communications Trailer - Glenn Mauger WB5OAF described extent of hail damage.

Reworking the Mountain - Dave Johnson KB5YIW said damage is unknown, although there was no indication of damage due to the hailstorm.


Old Business:

Fat Tire -No new information.

Ham Fest - October 30, 2004 at NMFTA 8:00 to 3:00.  Vendors to set up Friday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and Saturday from 7:00 am to 8:00am.  Table charge and tailgate charge are both $10 each. Ryan Snyder KC5WDT said approximately 8000 flyers did go out, some members already received theirs.  Discussed prizes, cost of printing, and a drawing for whoever travelled the furthest. Vern Leavitt KD5UHB made reservations with El Sombrero for the Friday night October 29 dinner at 7:00pm.  Jon Spargo KC5NTW is willing to do a VLA tour at 1pm, but the star party was cancelled as it will be a bright moon.  Ryan Snyder KC5WDT is obtaining Raffle prizes and door prizes; $1000 was previously approved, and they are coming. Ryan will also have  tables and chairs delivered by 1500 on Friday the 29th for setup at 1700, and he will get coffee from Chartwells as they provide all the accoutrements.  Vern will contact Roadrunner Travel regarding donuts. A donation can will be there for coffee and/or donuts.  Glenn Mauger WB5OAF will handle the talk-in.  Mailouts are done. 

Presenter Possibilities:  ARES, MARS, APRS, and Fox Hunt to be held in Fire Academy classroom.  Vendors discussed.  The flyer is incorrect regarding demos of VHF & HF.

Silent Auction - from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and collect by 3:00 pm.  Must be near a power outlet.  Prize drawings will be after the Silent Auction payments are received. 

Signs - Vern Leavitt KD5UHB is handling.

VE Session - Kalman Oravecz AJ5B - Registraton will be in the main hall from 11:00 to 11:55, cost $12.00, the Test Time is at 12:00 noon in Classroom 2.  Wada Altailji AE6QG has offered to assist Kalman.

Fox Hunt at 8:00am, and the hunt will be on foot.  Prize for Fox Hunt will be $50.00.
