SARA Meeting Minutes for: July 14, 2004
Call to Order: by Ed Wood KD5MFS at 1930 hours (7:30pm)
Introduction of Guests: Hubert Quintana is the new Driector, NM Firefighters Training Academy, but was unable to make the meeting. Welcome to new members Ray Collins KD5zmf & Ann Bowman AD6UY. Dave Finley's son Andrew and his friend Samuel Chavez were introduced.
Report of the Secretary: minutes approved as Vern Leavitt, KD5UHB emailed, approved.
Reprt of the Treasurer: Ryan Snyder KC5WDT unable to attend meeting, report by Ed Wood, approved. Outstanding obligation for Field Day food.
Reports of Committees:
Public Relations- Dave Finley N1IRZ gave a Field Day story to both papers.
News Articles- There was a public ceremony yeaterday for the Trailer donation, and press releases. Jon Spargo KC5NTW advised that there was a broadcast on KKOB AM Radio. Dave Finley N1IRZ showed photos of the trailer delivery ceremony.
ARES: Trailer - Jon Spargo KC5NTW said the trailer is temporarily stored behind the clubhouse; and that repair and maintenance is needed. Suggested we find a more secure location once renovation is completed. Tow vehicle will require a 2 5/16" ball and a 7 pin large round electric connection, and towing capacity of 3040 lbs without equipment. Design Committee - will meet next Wednesday at 1900 hours (7:00pm) to make plans for renovation and equipment, such as Repeater, HF, VHF, UHF, Mast, generator, fuel storage, power options, FEMA radios? programmable field radios on public safety band? Equipment Donations - Bob Kaufmann promised assistance with equipment for the trailer, possibly 2 radios? Ed Wood KD5MFS acquired some Radio Locking Mounts.
Mobile Repeater Frequencies - Bill Brundage K8HUH now has frequency permit in hand and will get the coordinations to Secretary Vern Leavitt KD5UHB and Glenn Mauger W5OAF. Re-working the Mountain - Dave Johnson KB5YIW unable to attend this meeting. System(s) Moves - Glenn Mauger WB5OAFadvised that Bob Tacker wanted to go up the mountain at the end of the week.
Ham Fest: October 30, 2004 - NMFTA - 8:00am to 3:00pm (0800 to 1500 hours) Vendor Notification - Set up Friday 5:00pm to 8:00 pm, and on Saturday 7:00am to 8:00am. Radcom has confirmed attendance. Mail-outs - Dave Finley N1IRZ has drawn up a draft. A packet will have to be sent to the section manager. The mailout should be distributed at the Albuquerque Ham Fest.
Presenter Possiblities - Paul Choc will be unavailable that week. Dave Finley N1IRZ has emailed Keith Hayes @ National Weather Service re:Sky Warn, Ed Wood KD5MFS will check with Don on ARES (Bill Kaufmann), Dave Finley will attempt to make contacts re: possible class on building Antennas and APRS, Fox Hunt Receivers (Paul Rhodes or possibly the contestants)?. State Meeting has already been requested. Triathlon Request for Saturday August 14 - Dave Finley N1IRZ, Vern Leavitt KD5UHB, Glenn Mauger WB5OAF, Howard Peavey K9PV, Tom Frawley KA0YYP, all volunteered to participate and assist.
Fire Academy Open House - on Wednesday August 4. A static display was suggested.
Newsletter - Bear Albrecht W5VZB is unable to continue doing the Newsletter and we have no new volunteer at this time.
Good of the Organization: MEGALINK maps distributed by Ed Wood KD5MFS. Jon Spargo KC5NTW advised he would be on vacation from 07/17/04 to 08/01/04. Dave Finley N1IRZ gave a presentation on his trip to watch Scaled Composite's SpaceShip One launch and flight.
